Technical Product Owner

We are looking for a Product Owner who is adaptable, analytically minded, a strong problem-solver, an excellent communicator, and eager to drive improvements.

Who are Future Forex?

Our mission is to transform the Forex industry in South Africa through premium support, automation, innovation (ie. Blockchain), and complete transparency. In addition to this, we also continue to enhance our Crypto Arbitrage investment product, which to date yields returns leagues ahead of traditional investments, making it one of the best-performing investment products in South Africa.

Future Forex is powered by a young, open-minded team that values autonomy and works remotely. We’re looking to grow exponentially in the Forex space and need to scale our service efficiently to do so.

Why is now a good time to join us?

We recently rolled out our cutting-edge Forex platform and mobile app, and have some exciting projects planned. This means you’ll play a massive role in setting product direction, owning projects end to end and be perfectly positioned to become an integral part of the team as we continue growing. Going forward, we aim to expand globally and leverage our agility, inventiveness and drive to improve the livelihoods of billions. Joining now offers the rare opportunity to play a massive role in this goal.

The opportunity

To grow our service offering, we need to enhance our existing platforms, expand our Forex and Crypto Arbitrage services with new features, and continue to optimise operations by digitising processes.

The ideal candidate for the Technical Product Owner role is someone with a strong business analysis background, a passion for building ground-breaking solutions in the finance space and the ability to translate business needs into well-defined, high-quality product specifications.

You’ll play a key part in turning stakeholder ideas and vision into delivery-ready user stories and then production-ready features, working closely with business leadership, designers and developers. Our product direction is quite well-defined — your focus will be on clarifying and documenting the requirements that bring this vision to life, supporting the team to find the best solutions to unforeseen problems as they crop up, and quality-assuring the designers’ and developers’ work.

What you’ll do

  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and document their requirements.
  • Proactively define fit-for-purpose solutions and translate these solutions into clearly scoped user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure alignment across teams through well-structured documentation.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure features are well-designed and accurately built.
  • Help developers solve the inevitable unforeseen problems that come up during implementation by drawing on your deep product understanding and context.
  • Put yourself in the client’s shoes to continuously analyse, improve and develop the best possible user experience.
  • Conduct functional quality assurance and user acceptance testing, providing constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of product vision and core business objectives.

What you’ll need

  • At least 2 years' experience in a product, business analysis, or similar, role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant analytical field (i.e. Engineering, Business Science, Data Analytics, etc).
  • Experience in the finance/SaaS space is beneficial, but not necessary.
  • Excellent problem-solving, with the ability to quickly map out an MVP.
  • Proven experience documenting complex business logic and requirements/ user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to ask challenging questions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to define and bring features to life.
  • Exposure to fast-paced agile delivery environments.
  • Basic technical fluency and understanding of software systems, API’s and technical constraints.
  • Experience conducting Quality Control/ Assurance processes and hands-on user acceptance testing.
  • Highly organised and detail oriented.
  • Strong intuition of user needs.
  • Comfortable as a self-starter working remotely.
  • Comfortable taking a collaborative approach, and willing to support existing leadership, product vision and delivery processes.
  • A start-up mindset, comfortable with products failing and having to be rapidly iterated.
